Where to set up in Caledonia

Most Caledonia parties happen in the backyard, and most Caledonia backyards work. You need a flat patch of grass, asphalt, or concrete about 30 by 22 feet (the unit plus 5 feet of clearance on every side), 20 feet of overhead clearance, and a standard outlet within 50 feet. No gravel, sand, or rock landscaping. Newer lots in Kraft Farms, Snow Valley, Valley Point, and Thornapple Farms usually have the room; on a Campau Lake or Duncan Lake lot, pick the flat stretch away from the shoreline slope.

Parks take a phone call first:

• Caledonia Community Green (9309 Dobber Wenger, in front of the township library) is the only park the township runs. The pavilion rents for $75 a half day or $100 a full day for township residents ($150 / $200 for non-residents), plus a $200 refundable deposit. The policy doesn’t mention inflatables one way or the other, so ask about a bounce house and an outlet when you call 616-891-0070.
• Caledonia Lakeside Park (370 N Lake St SE, on Emmons Lake) is a Kent County park. The open shelter holds 125, has water and electric, and rents for $150 to $175 a day; the enclosed shelter with the full kitchen is $325 on weekdays and $550 on weekends. Kent County requires Park Manager permission at least two weeks ahead plus a $25 amusement fee for a bounce house. Reserve online or call 616-632-PARK.
• Fred W. Ruehs Park (7600 68th St, on the Thornapple River in the Alaska end of the township) has a big playground and a reservable shelter. Same Kent County rules apply; the fee isn’t posted online, so call 616-632-PARK.

Church lawns and school fields work well for bigger crowds. St. Paul Lutheran on Kraft Avenue, Caledonia Christian Reformed on Cherry Valley, and the Caledonia Community Schools campuses all have flat, open grass. Ask the office where the nearest outside outlet is, and we’ll send a certificate of insurance naming the church or the PTO.

What we bring

The Extra Large Bounce House is 20 feet long, 12 feet wide, and 16 feet 4 inches tall, with more than 300 square feet of bounce area, mesh windows all the way around, and fire-resistant vinyl. It rents for $275 per day. One blower runs on one standard 110V circuit; blower, cord, and stakes come with it. You supply the outlet within 50 feet and a grown-up to supervise. Five to six kids of similar size can bounce at once.

How it works

1. Book your date. Reserve on the rentals page. From May through September, book 2 to 4 weeks ahead; Saturdays fill first.

2. Kevin sets it up. He stakes it on grass or sandbags it on pavement, checks the blower, and goes over the safety rules with you.

3. Bounce, then we pack up. Kevin tears it down and runs the full sanitizing cycle (sweep and inspect, disinfect, final inspection) before it goes to the next family.

Weather: inflatables come down if winds top 15 to 20 mph or it rains. Kevin watches the forecast and will cancel ahead of time with a full refund if it looks unsafe. Bigfoot might be famous for disappearing into the woods, but we pride ourselves on showing up.

Do you really deliver from inside Caledonia?

Yes. The village, the Glen Valley and Kraft Farms subdivisions, the lake roads, and the Alaska and Dutton ends of the township are all a short drive, which also lets us be flexible on drop-off and pickup times if your party runs early or late.

Yes on both. Bigfoot Bounce Houses is fully insured, and we’ll send a certificate naming your church, venue, or PTO. Caledonia Community Schools parent groups run events like Paris Ridge’s Pantherfest in May, Kettle Lake’s Family Fun Night, and Caledonia Elementary’s Family Fun Fest, so if your PTO wants a bounce house, we’ve got the paperwork ready.

How far ahead should I book?

Two to four weeks in peak season, May through September. Grad-party weekends in June, the Saturday before the Fourth of July (parade morning, fireworks at Cal-Plex), and the Harvest Festival Saturday in late September go fast, so book as soon as you have the date.
